It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, which is partly due to me saving up for a new set-up. Gone are the Dell 1750, Vestax Spin and Akai LPD8 running Traktor Pro . I’m now running shiny new Traktor Scratch Pro 2 on a Macbook Pro with a VCI -100 MK II + Kontrol X1 + Audio 4 DJ.
So with my new gear in hand I recently ventured out to my first gig in front of actual human beings. It was my friend’s birthday/BBQ party and I volunteered to play a hip-hop set for a few hours.
I think it went well. I had read horror stories of first gigs going completely wrong. So I did my homework way in advance. Revised my playlist/library about 20 times the week before, brought a back up library and a shit ton of extra cables.
I had originally planned on playing a two hour set, thinking that there might be someone else playing, but that wasn’t the case. My set was over 6 hours, so next time I’ll prepare a warm up set and have a larger song selection,
